Boston Logan International Airport, is an international airport that is located mostly in East Boston and partially in Winthrop, Massachusetts. It is the the 16th-busiest airport in the United States and say more than 42 millions passengers through its doors in 2019. The airport is located just 5 miles from downtown Boston and is well connected via public transport links.

Things to do at BOS

Head to an Airport Lounge

One of the best ways to spend your airport downtime and get away from the hustle and bustle of the airport terminal is to head to an airport lounge. Boston Logan Airport has lots of different lounge options, some of which you need a membership to access and some of which you can pay at the door.

Workout and swim at the Seaport Hotel

Locations 3.2 miles from the airport. The MBTA Silver Line Waterfront will bring you from Logan Airport to The Seaport Hotel (WTC station) with trains leaving every 10-15 min. Alternatively you can take the scenic route and grab a water taxi and get off at the Seaport World Trade Centre stop.

Free things to do at BOS

Meditate in the Airport Chapel

A great way to get away from the chaos of the main terminal is to spend some time in the Airport Chapel. Most airports will have multi faith prayer rooms available for traveling passengers. These are open, inviting spaces where guests are encouraged to be quiet and respectful and take some time for reflection.

The chapel is located in Terminal C before security, on the Arrivals Level. Services may be conducted in the chapel from time to time.

Enjoy healthy, wholesome, nutritious food at B.Good. Choose from burger, sandwiches, salads and more, all made from the freshest and healthiest ingredients. Located in Terminal A.

Sit down meal – Legal Sea Foods

Get the freshest and most delicious seafood dishes at Legal Sea Foods. The restaurant offers an all-day menu to help fuel and nourish you while you are traveling. Open daily from 11:00 – 01:00 (closing times may vary depending on the last departing flight). Located in Terminal B, C and E.

Luggage storage at BOS

As with most airport in the US, there are no luggage storage facilities available at Boston Logan Airport. If you have layover at BOS and want to store your luggage try these options:

  • Ask at the airport information desk for recommendations on nearby luggage storage facilities.

  • If you are heading downtown, check for luggage storage lockers at bus and train terminals

  • Use Google to find a luggage storage service. There are lots of apps and websites that offer luggage storage options on large cities across the US.

Long Layover at BOS

Relax on the beach at Constitution Beach

Don’t spend your airport downtime stuck in the terminal. Get out of the airport and spend your time relaxing in the sunshine at Constitution Beach. The beach is adjacent to a park which has tennis courts, basketball courts and jogging routes. Restrooms are available at the beach but there are no showers. If you want to take a dip, you can head back to the airport and freshen up with a shower at The Club lounge.

Located 3.2 miles from the airport. The quickest and easiest way to get there is by taxi. Alternatively, you can catch the Blue Line from the Airport Station to Orient Heights and walk for about 10 minutes. If you have a bit more time you can walk from the airport to the beach is approx. 40 minutes.

Run/Walk in the Belle Isle Marsh Reservation

The Belle Isle Marsh Reservation is a 28-acre park with benches, paths and running trails and an observation tower. If you want to get out of the airport and get some fresh air without heading to downtown Boston, the Belle Isle Marsh is a great option for you. Take a calming stroll along the path or go for an invigorating run surrounded by beautiful scenery and nature.

Unfortunately, there are no luggage storage facilities at the airport so you will need to bring your carry-on bag with you.

Located just 2.9 miles from the airport. You can walk to the marsh in an hour or catch the Blue Line from the Airport Station to Suffolk Downs.

There are other nice areas to run or walk even closer to Boston Airport such as East Memorial Park and Condor Street Urban Wild.

Head Downtown

BOS is located just 3 miles from downtown Boston. If you have a longer layover, why not get out of the airport and explore the city? The MBTA public transit system has two connections between the airport and downtown, the Blue Line Subway and the Silver Line Bus Rapid Transit. These transport links will get you downtown in 30 minutes. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get back to the airport and through security before your next flight.

Transport Options

Train: The Blue Line Subway also connects Logan airport to downtown Boston. Free shuttle busses will take you from the terminal to the Airport Station where you can catch the train.

Bus: The Silver Line Bus connects Logan Airport to South Station and is free from the airport to South Station. Catch the Silver Line Route SL1 and then the Red Line to get downtown.

Water Taxi: The MBTA Harbour Express connects Logan Airport to Boston’s Long Wharf and is a unique way to get downtown. Take the free Massport Route 66 Shuttle Bus from the terminal to the ferry stop. Visit the website to plan your journey.

Overnight Layover at BOS

The Hilton Boston Logan Airport is the only hotel at the airport. Connected to Terminal A and E via the sky bridge, it is the best option if you want to book into a hotel but stay at the airport. There are multiple other hotels located within 10 minutes of the airport, all of which offer complimentary shuttles to take you to and from the terminal.
